“Be The Change”
partner of the month:
This month, I’m supporting two organizations that are very near and dear to my heart.
Good Work Austin and
The Mike & Sherry Project
Good Work Austin
GWA provides small businesses with access to resources to provide low-cost health insurance and counseling options to their staff as well as a community of business owners to share resources and support.
With a focus on the restaurant industry, Good Work Austin is creating a supportive environment for employers who want to do the right thing for their workers, the economy, and the environment.
I’ll be donating 5% of my total April sales to Good Work Austin.
The Mike & Sherry Project
The Mike & Sherry Project was created in 2019 with the mission to provide accessible mental health care to individuals working in the Austin restaurant and bar industry in partnership with Capital Area Counseling (CAC), a psychotherapy center providing affordable, accessible, high-quality mental health services to all Central Texans.
CAC is offering low-cost tele-therapy services to members of the Austin bar and restaurant industry, regardless of employment status due dining room closures with help from the fundraising efforts of the Mike & Sherry Project.
Pricing is determined by an income-based sliding scale with appointments as low as $15. Funds raised by the Project go towards helping bridge the gap if the bar and restaurant workers are unable to make the fee and to supporting CAC staff. To date, the Project has raised over $60,000 for accessible mental healthcare and seen over 2,700 appointments.
This year the Cap 10k, Austin’s largest 10k race, has made the Mike & Sherry Project their race beneficiary, and there’s still time to register to run! Join the Good Work Austin team & start fundraising here.
